See the Seven Steps difference with these persuasive writing examples!
One of the best ways to learn is to see examples and explore what works in effective writing. In this free Persuasive Writing Examples collection, you’ll find:
- Before and after examples – Model how to improve a piece of persuasive writing using the Seven Steps techniques. The annotated version of the ‘before’ text models how to use Seven Steps terminology when editing, assessing or giving feedback on a piece of writing. The ‘after’ version then shows students how the Seven Steps can change a piece of writing.
- Student writing examples – View the winning primary and secondary student entries from our persuasive writing competition – we received almost 400 entries from 43 schools, from students in Years 2 to 8. Competition categories included a speech persuading school leaders to ban uniforms, an opinion piece about the climate change strikes and a review of a favourite book.
- Mentor texts – Show your students examples of the Seven Steps techniques in published persuasive texts and videos. These handy lists are sorted by Step and include notes about how each text/clip demonstrates a particular Seven Steps technique. Choose a text that demonstrates a particular Step and share it with your students as a starting point for discussing the theory and practising the skill.
